Talk Like a Pirate Day 2008

Talk Like a Pirate Day 2008 was an event to remember! The Blair family put on a skit, the Gubler group did a little jig, the Johnson girls told jokes and sang an impromptu sea chantey, the Demille boy performed a one-legged feat of wonder, and the audience participated in a grand battle melee. Food was eaten, grog was drunken, pictures were taken. Thanks to everyone who came and helped us have a great time!

Anticipating TLAPD

2005 - This was our first Talk Like a Pirate Day together. To commemorate the day we both went to work dressed up ready to brainwash the masses with our piratittude. Just check out them mugs; they're frightful enough to scare anyone into talking like a pirate!


2006 - We held our first TLAPD party for the niechews and cousins. We had a treasure hunt, told pirate stories, and made pizza. Blimey, but they make a terrifying crew of scurvy seadogs!




2007 - We expanded our party to include some friends and neighbors and had a pirate carnival. We played lots of games, got pirate swords and tattoos, and ate a dinner fit for a crew who ain't seen land fer ages. We even got to see what the sister-in-law-to-be was really made of. Looks like Craig caught himself a pretty fair wench!

Summer Memories

These two are posing at Quail Lake. We had originally planned on going to the pool, but got there just as it closed. Luckily, Tomie likes water no matter where or how or in what form, so we headed to the lake. It was a little windy to stay for long, but we had a great time anyway!

Yes, Tomas is eating rocks. Delicious and nutritious, I'm sure! We took this picture while Tomie watched Dad mow the lawn. A favorite pass time.






We were very lucky this summer to have Aidan, Jenna, and Corbin spend the week with us. We had lots of fun playing in the water, going to the park, and visiting our neighbors - the goats.

Peach Days!

Here's Tomie at the Peach Days Parade. Parades are always a favorite 'cuz they involve candy, horses, tractors, and balloons. We got to watch the parade with the Johnsons, Gublers, and Strattons. Tomie kept putting his candy in one of the chairs, which was a good idea until Mae-mae decided to sit there and started eating all the pre-gathered candy. Smart girl!

After the parade Tomie got to play a harp at one of the displays. He thought that was pretty stinkin' cool! He also liked watching the horses get shoed. The boys liked spotting all the dragon pictures at the art show and Mom liked eating the frosty-smoothy-peachy goodness she got at the neighbors' booth. Yeah, that beverage didn't last too long in the hands of the perpetually over-heated pregnant lady!

Later we ate YUMMY navajo tacos with the Stratton cousins@ Grandma Stratton's and then helped Grandma Gubler take down her fabulous, award-winning display. This involved Levi doing a lot of heavy lifting while Saddie and Tomie ran around and played. Overall, a pretty successful holiday, I dare say!

Oak Grove

Here are some pics of our camping trip with the Gubler sibs and Levi's scouts. We had lots of fun. Tomie loved rolling in the dirt and playing with the cousins. Saddie's favorites were not being super hot and having the boys cook. Levi probably had the most fun driving back and forth from St. George to work and to fix flat tires!
