The Mud Monster

This is what happens when you allow a little boy to play in the mud.

You have been warned!

Every New Beginning is Some Other Beginning's End

WARNING! I'm getting a bit weepy just thinking about what to write in this post. No worries, tears don't stain the internet and we've got the tissues stand.

As many of you know, we just moved - all the long way across town! (Six and a half blocks to be precise.) It's come after months of searching and bidding and declining and winning and loaning and wondering and praying. Now we're gladly starting a new chapter that has come to us through one miracle after another. We've definitely been lead by a loving Heavenly Father to this new home as an answer to our prayers and wants and needs.

Of course, it would be impossible for me to deny that I have had mixed feeling about ending the previous chapter of our lives. What was I thinking trying to move out of a ward of which I had finally started to feel a part; distancing myself from friends I finally started to feel were real; leaving a sweet home Levi and I purchased as an engaged couple - the only home me and my children have ever known as Gublers; abandoning my beloved strawberry patch, pecan trees, pomegranate bush, hummingbird nest, and lawn? All in favor of what? A half acre of dirt and a crazy house that needs a TON of work? I think I must be insane!

It's funny that it all hit me as I was shampooing our carpets to prepare our old house to rent. (Luckily it's not too difficult to vacuum through tears.) I also felt it in stages as we were looking for a new house. I kept wondering if we should just stay put - after all I loved my little home, even from the first moment we met - but then I'd remember the dreams and plans that kept swirling around in my head, and that those plans and that home didn't fit together. So I kept pressing on with the search for a new life for us.

Well, we've found it - all shiny with promises for the future! And now, a loving goodbye to our life before - I will miss you and cherish you (my waste basket is now filled with spent tissues thinking about you) - but now it's time to embrace those new promises. Time to dry my tears, hitch up my britches, and get to work making new friends and a new niche, creating a reality of those swirling dreams, and establishing a house and a home. Time to GROW.

CHEESE!

This little girl of the nascent vocabulary, loves to say, "CHEESE!" She also loves to accompany this exclamation with an appropriately cheesy smile.

She also loves to wiggle just as the shutter clicks, making it more than difficult to get a clear image of my cheesy little crinkle-nosed beauty. Argh!

Oak Grove 2010

Friday night found us revisiting a favorite Gubler haunt - Oak Grove. The hot dogs, dirt, and dessert were delicious and the time spent playing out of the heat was heavenly.

What a great family. What a great time.

Oh, and the winner of the Blair Family Olympics (drum roll please...) Kassidy! Congratulations to each contestant for a fabulous show of ingenuity, speed, and dramatics.

To My Adoring Fan

This is dedicated to "St. George" who has visited religiously every day, only to find the post unchanged from the day before.

One Proud Mama!

Today this handsome little booger picking boy (I added the second picture solely for Travis' benefit) gave his very first talk in Primary! With a little help from Daddy, Tomy spoke about the "Holy Spirit" and did an admirable job.

This mama is also proud of my little boy's extraordinary fashion sense. For the second week straight he has insisted on wearing this striking autumn-striped sweater over summer-striped shirt ensemble - hundred degree weather be hanged! Nothing comes between my boy and his fashion statement.
